Social media essentials: Facebook Watch, Instagram and Facebook to be redesigned for readability, and WhatsApp set to allow money transfers

Spotlight story: Facebook are launching ‘Watch’ a new video platform
Facebook has introduced a hub for original video content called 'Watch’. According to Techcrunch, Watch will allow you to view personalized recommendations of live and recorded shows. You will also have access to your own 'Watchlist’ where you can subscribe to updates on new episodes of your favorite shows.
This exciting new feature will generate opportunities to push more advertising before and during programs.
It will only be available for partners and will roll out to a small group of US users on mobile, desktop and Facebook’s TV apps. Once fully tested this feature will be rolled out to everyone.

Facebook and Instagram are being redesigned
It was announced this week that Facebook and Instagram will be redesigned to help with readability. This is set to significantly improve UX with newsfeeds being more legible, clickable and commentable.
Instagram will have threaded comment reels, meaning it is possible to have sub-conversations in public. Improving readability will enhance the conversations and insights company’s can have with customers and make content more accessible.
Facebook and Instagram will be rolling out these changes to iOS and Android users within the next few weeks.
WhatsApp to add payments in messaging
This new feature will allow users to transfer money from one user to another, the latest service to allow this money transferring via text.
It has not been mentioned when this service will be made available to UK users as it is still in the trialing period.
However, WhatsApp is not the first social platform that is allowing user to user payment options, Facebook introduced this payment feature in 2015.
